The state police are investigating alleged sex abuse at an orthodox religious camp in South Fallsburg for 7th and 8th grade boys, according to a published report in The New York Post.

The Post reported that a kosher-food truck driver entered Camp Shalva early Wednesday, entered the bunks and molested several of the campers. The report said that camp security reviewed video tape and saw that an intruder had entered the sleeping quarters.

The story’s details came from an online Yiddish chat site and unnamed sources. Former Sullivan District Attorney Steve Lungen, who was quoted in the Post story, said Monday a camp representative called him last week and was concerned. He said he didn’t ask specific questions about the alleged abuse but did tell them he thought it should be investigated.

“I put them in touch with the DA and state police,” Lungen said.

A state police investigator said no information was available on Monday.
